Job Description

Head of Engineering / Python / Start-up / Fully Remote (UK Based) / £80k - £110k

I am working with an AI company who are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead their engineering team of 5.

The business has developed 2x cutting edge object detection products that monitor how busy hospitality outlets, leisure, and travel destinations get at different periods of a day, week, and month. This has enabled their customers to operate more efficiently, reduce expenditure on labour and increase sales. They have been in operation for around 5 years and are now pushing for Series A funding in Q1 of 2021. They currently have 15 people within the business and are looking to scale up in headcount throughout 2021 as they look to scale their products.

They are looking for a Head of Engineering to come in and take charge of their small but growing engineering team whilst also working closely with the Co-Founders to scope out projects to scale up the company’s offerings. You will be heavily involved with mapping out the technical direction whilst contributing to architectural design to kickstart new feature development. You will then be responsible for supporting the engineering team in driving those projects to ensure they are done on time and effectively to meet the businesses needs. You will be heavily involved with mentoring and coaching the engineering team, the hiring of new engineers as the business grows, code reviews, some debugging and overall support of the company’s systems. They are looking for someone that is a strong leader, excellent problem solver and technically sound. Below is a snapshot of skills needed to be considered:

  • Experience coding in Python
  • Leadership of small-medium sized engineering teams
  • Infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP.
  • Experience running code reviews
  • Experience working with stakeholders mapping out projects and driving those projects into production

On offer is a salary between £80,000 - £110,000 + stock options. They also offer the flexibility to work predominantly or full remote with the occasional trip into their London office.
