Max Oldham - Who Am I?

Our latest addition to our ever growing team, Max, joined us with over 18 months previous IT recruitment experience & has fit into the team like a glove. We recently caught up with him to find out how he's settling into the team over the past 5 weeks & to understand his goals for this next chapter in his career.

What have you been doing since you’ve started?

Most of my time is spend building my specialist network! I’ve been reaching out the market of candidates qualifying each individual to find out their strengths and most importantly their career aspirations. Using this network, I can provide my client base (which I have also been building) with the best talent out there.

What’s your area of specialism and why do you feel you’ll be successful in this market?

I currently cover the Java market. Consistently ranked as the number one choice of programming languages by software developers worldwide, Java is a whole world of its own! My previous recruitment experience within the tech sector partnered with my passion to continuously develop my own knowledge base, is a perfect match for this ever-changing niche.

I have found that Java it is often a very candidate short market with around 80% of top-level candidates not even actively looking. This requires me to apply outside of the box thinking and varying techniques every day to really tap into the area of the market that most businesses are interested in. It often pays being a specialist!

What attracted you to work for Amicus Recruitment over other agencies?

The working culture! Everyone in the office was very accommodating when I first arrived, and it meant I was able to settle in quickly and hit the ground running. I would describe the nature of the office as professional yet relaxed. It not only gives me the freedom to work to my own business network but means I’m having a great time doing it.

What are your goals in the next 12 months?

My main goal is to have a well-developed network of clients that I have made positive changes to. As well as enjoying helping people find their dream job, I enjoy building relationships with well established businesses and having a positive input in their future. By the end of the year my aim is to have at least five exclusive clients I have made an impact with and have placed several people with.

Finally, tell us an interesting fact about you!

I once managed to get on stage with Chic and dance to their absolute banger ‘Good Times’. If you don’t know, give it a listen!
